Unfortunately, many people still believe that recording absolutely EVERYTHING will somehow solve every problem. Originally, Videoblazer was designed for event-driven video surveillance, where the main idea is immediate reaction — or at least detection before a negative event occurs, with archives used only to investigate the cause afterward. However, customer demand shapes the market…
Due to numerous requests, Speclab integrated a 2 TB hard drive into the unified enclosure. In terms of storage capacity, it is fully comparable to traditional video recorders.
Instead of a 256 GB flash drive — which is already sufficient for months of event-based storage — there is now also a long-term storage option. In standard installations, recordings can be retained for several years.
Sometimes, to properly analyze events, it is necessary to go far back into the archive history.
It can be used both for continuous loop recording of all camera content containing detected neural-network objects and for extremely long-term storage of video events. (Although such events can also be uploaded to the cloud.)
Thanks to the use of higher-grade microelectronics, heat generation has been kept within acceptable operating temperatures. In addition, the hard drive itself is mounted tightly to the enclosure cover, which also helps dissipate excess heat.
For high-temperature regions, the use of this enclosure version is recommended.
In addition, two more 2 TB hard drives can theoretically be connected via external USB cables. However, in this configuration the system becomes more of an indoor device and is no longer intended for outdoor deployment.
Videoblazer also supports operation with any IP-based disk array.
Alternatively, recording can be performed directly to a PC using the GOALcity software, which is now supplied free of charge with the device.
The HDD-equipped Videoblazer version is more expensive than the previous model. The cost increase is not only due to the hard drive itself, but also because of the use of other low-heat-generation components. The main value of the entire design lies in its ability to operate under virtually any conditions: without dedicated server rooms, cooling systems, ventilation, or maintenance.
It can operate in a vehicle, on a pole, on the ground, or even underground. Nothing makes noise, and nothing flashes.
